The Museum of Transport Lucerne has commissioned an event platform. The very large platform is intended to lift vehicles and other exhibits from the basement to the presentation level. In the basement, the platform can be directly accessed and equipped. A solution had to be developed for the necessary lifting movement and guidance. Key data that were available as requirements.
- Lifting path 2.3 m and infinitely rotatable through 360°
- Platform diameter 5.65 metres
- Dead weight of platform approx. 4'000kg (static conditional)
- Required payload of 5'000kg
- Lifting time max. 60 sec
- Low room height in the basement
- Drive system must not be "visible"
Resolution / The way forward
To move the total weight of 9 tonnes, six NSE25-RN worm gear screw jacks (rotating) were used, which are designed for around 25 kN lifting force. Due to the stroke length of 2300 mm, the bend-critical speed was optimised by means of a double-flight screw with a larger diameter (40 instead of 30 mm). At the same time, the spindle supports a higher lifting speed, in this case 40mm/s, in order to achieve the target time of 60 seconds. To increase the running smoothness and for more stability during the lifting movement, vertical linear guides with precision guide profiles and combination rollers were mounted. Due to the limited space in the area of the drive, the drive motor was used vertically. The deflection to the screw jack was solved by means of bevel gears and the necessary couplings and connecting shafts. Manual operation in emergency situations can also be realised by means of bevel gear.
- 6 Screw jacks rotating
- Double threaded spindle for higher lifting speed
- Bevel gearbox for drive reversal
- Linear guides with precision guide profiles
- Highest running smoothness despite 9 tons weight

Product / Detailed information
Screw jacks, rotating version, with a wide variety of attachments, such as flange nuts, cardan adapter plates, lubricators, etc. can be used in the modular system. In addition, various spindles, bevel gearboxes or precision guides are mostly available from stock at Nozag. We are happy to support you at any time with engineering, calculation and optimisation of drive solutions.
