The Challenge / The Situation
The company EBT Swiss Engineering AG based in Neuhaus (Switzerland) produces air treatment devices for production facilities and spray dryers for the food processing, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. In order to meet the highest hygiene standards, these devices are designed and manufactured according to customer specifications. All components, including various filter stages, own-produced heat exchangers, silencers, fans and rotors for air drying, are mounted in stainless steel housings and delivered worldwide. These devices are key components, in particular for the spray drying of up to 5 million liters of milk daily. All elements used must withstand continuous 24/7 operation over several years. For the development of the “BOS-Sorption” air dryer, EBT designed on its own a drive for its high-efficiency sorption rotors. This rotor drive had to meet the following requirements:

  • Standard products, all from stock or from the modular system
  • Suitable for food environments and high air humidity
  • Slow, jerk-free movement
  • Scalable solution for various facility sizes
  • Ready-to-mount supply by Nozag



The Solution
EBT swiss engineering AG’s engineers brought extensive knowledge of drive technology and recognized the great benefits of Nozag’s modular system. This allowed the targeted selection of single components, which were tailored individually to the desired functions. The requirements for smooth and low-maintenance operation were met thanks to the CHT 63B4 worm gear including a 0.18kW motor and Delta® HR Titanium roller chains. Once again, the high flexibility of Nozag’s modular system has been demonstrated.

  • Standard single components such as roller chains, chain sprockets and chain tensioners, and geared motors including a worm gear
  • The chain sprockets are machined ready for installation
  • Worm gears offer smooth drive movements and require very little maintenance
