Three stacks mounted on top of an industrial building must be laid down for technical safety reasons. The site requires that these emergency stacks exceed the height of the building as little as possible. However, in the event of an emergency, these stacks must be placed upright within three minutes to evacuate the cleaned exhaust gases of the Diesel engines. The requirements were clear.

Resolution / The way forward
A hinged mount provided the decisive advantage for this challenge. This tilt mount gave the worm gear screw jack NSE100-SL, combined with a clevis joint and driven by a motor, sufficient freedom of movement to perform the lifting and tilting move. The optimal design of the gear unit, with a one-meter stroke and a 10-ton force, allows raising the about four meter high and one ton heavy stacks in exactly 3 minutes. This ensures the emergency operation and the readiness of the three single stacks in the required time.
